DON’T dodge or burn with out trying to fix your pictures with your basic sliders if your selecting giant chunks of your pictures like the left in right of the dog picture you are selecting to much go back and fix it for instance with exposure then shadows. when selecting need to clean up where you selected sloppy edges that bleed in to the sky on the dog picture.
in 2nd picture sloppy in your selection want to go back over your edges and erase what you don’t want selected
side of house, fence (?) and apple never make a selection with out trying to fix it in basic sliders
